Introduction

Hindi got its name from the Persian word Hind, which means ”land of the Indus River”. 

It is spoken by more than 528 million people as a first language and around 163 million use it as a second language in India and other parts of South Asia.

Hindi is written with the Devanagari alphabet, developed from the Brahmi script in the 11th century AD. 

It contains 36 consonants and 12 vowels. 

In addition, it has its own representations of numbers that follow the Hindu-Arabic numeral system.

Hindi Typing

Placement of fingers on Keyboard:

The placement for fingers are same for Hindi Typing and English typing. 

Always use same finger to type particular character and after press that key return your finger on their initial position as showing in below image.

How to learn Hindi Typing?
Learning Hindi typing is very easy. Just practice daily and become a Hindi typist.

Important points:

1. Place your fingers correctly on the keyboard. ( as shown in figure)

2. Each finger is assigned several keys. always press that particular key from same finger.

3. From first day practice without seeing the keyboard. Your eyes must be on screen always.

4. Practice daily.

5. Keep patience while learning, your speed will improve with time.

Hindi Typing - Krutidev Font

  • Krutidev is the most popular font for Hindi typing. So learning Hindi typing in Krutidev is worthful.
  • Kruti Dev (Devanagari: कृतिदेव) is Devanagari typeface and non-Unicode clip font typeface which uses the keyboard layout of Remington’s typewriters.
  • In north Indian states many public service commissions conduct their clerk, stenographer, data entry operator’s typing exams using the Kruti Dev typeface.
  • It is widely used in general Hindi typing purpose from courts to all government and private sector works in Hindi language.
  • Historically, familiarity with Remington’s typewriters could facilitate learning to type on a computer using this font as they use a similar keyboard.
  • It was released nearly in 1997 and designed by Kruti Dev Ram.
